Revolving credit cards , what are they?
Revolving credit cards are a type of card which allows customers to borrow money up to a credit limit and to pay it back over time in fixed amounts or instalments that may vary depending on the money borrowed. As customers repay what they owe to the entity, they can borrow money again as needed, as the line of credit remains available.
The operation of this type of card is not transparent, and in the vast majority of cases abusive interest rates are applied, which can significantly increase the amount owed.
When are interest rates considered unfair or usurious?
Recently, Spain's Supreme Court has ruled that the interest rates applied to revolving credit cards, personal loans or debt consolidation loans are abusive or usurious when they are higher than 20%. If the interest on your product exceeds or is around 20%, it is possible to reclaim the money you have been overcharged.
How do I know what interest rate I have paid?
You can find out the interest rate you have been charged by looking at youro revolving card, personal loan or debt consolidation contracto or at your monthly bills. If you do not have the contract or receipts, or your company makes it difficult for you to obtain these documents, we, at oMP - Martínez & Pulido Abogadoso, are specialists in banking law and can request them on your behalf.
